We’re halfway through the year, and we hope this Q2 Impact Report finds you in good health. In the second quarter, our mission to create 100,000 skilled jobs pressed forward with exciting milestones: the anticipated Gulu Hub is steadily progressing, while students from the newly opened Namayemba Hub secured their very first paid work, putting their freshly acquired skills into practice and earning their first income.
Laying the Foundation for Change in Northern Uganda
All eyes are on the construction site of the Gulu Hub, where the foundation has now been successfully laid, and we are moving onto the next stage of construction. Naturally, questions have been raised: What is being built? Who is it for? Our answer is simple. This Hub is for the young people of Northern Uganda, a region held back for over two decades by war that ended in 2006, leaving lost years of education and lingering youth unemployment. These young people have spent too long playing catch-up. As Gulu grows into one of Uganda’s fastest-developing cities, we want to see them leapfrog straight onto the opportunities opening up around them, learning digital skills that unlock real job opportunities.
AsOne Elevate Hub Update – Namayemba
Students from our first cohort at the Namayemba Hub haven’t yet graduated, but they’ve already secured their first paid work, putting their newly acquired skills into practice and earning their first income.
