🎓 850 Students, Four Locations: A Graduation to Remember
Gulu. Jinja. Katanga. Kosovo. The four locations at which 850 students graduated from the Elevate Program just this week. We are incredibly proud to witness an entire cohort of young men and women wear their graduation gowns as a mark of one full year of equipping with skills in graphic design, photography, videography, website development, and motion graphics. Though many come from challenging backgrounds, today, they step into the workforce with confidence and opportunity. We have levelled the ground, and now we look forward to witnessing them apply what they’ve learned, secure/create jobs, and impact their communities. This is just the beginning. The future is full of opportunities that each of the 850 graduates can now take good hold of. Thank you for making this happen.
Less than five months into the Elevate Program, Freida,22, landed her first job as an intern. Another four months in, she is an Executive Assistant performing administrative, project management and web development functions.
“I have always been hardworking and a fast learner, but when my parents couldn’t pay my school fees anymore, I was told that my only option was marriage,” she says. Freida did drop out of Senior Four, and while weighing her options, chanced upon the Elevate Program in Kosovo Slum in Kampala.
Though she is yet to graduate, Freda already can look after herself and support her family. She plans to enrol for more skilling once she completes her current course.
“I am grateful that Elevate gave me another option – a better option. because that’s where my progress began.”
