Elevate booth launching in Jinja
As we look back on August, we’re reminded of the incredible strides we’ve made at era92 Group in our mission to create jobs for underserved youth in the slums. Each of our ventures — era92 Elevate, era92 Finance, and era92 Creative — has been hard at work, driving change and creating opportunities where they’re needed most.
But first, a quick reintroduction to who we are:
era92 Group is a transformative holding company that changes the stories of the underserved youth because we see them differently. We don’t just see the youth in slums as beneficiaries of aid — we see them as valuable clients, employees, and entrepreneurs. Our mission is to break barriers to employment for youth in slums by centering these young individuals in everything we do.
We invest in their dreams using these three main social ventures under our portfolio;
- era92 Elevate: We believe in the power of education to transform lives. era92 Elevate is a learning institution where underserved youth can successfully enroll in, learn from, complete, and use their education to contribute to their lives, their communities, and society.
- era92 Creative: Employment is a pathway to independence. era92 Creative is an employment agency that connects underserved youth with meaningful job opportunities, enabling them to contribute to and thrive in the workforce.
- era92 Fund: Financial empowerment is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. era92 Fund is a financial institution where underserved youth can access, manage, and multiply their resources to create a stable and prosperous future.
Here’s what happened in August across our ventures:
We believe that equipping young people with technology skills fosters freedom, equality, and opportunities in slums across Africa. To advance this vision, we’ve committed to launching in a new community every six months. Last month, we proudly introduced the Elevate Booth in Jinja, marking a significant milestone in expanding our reach.
We recently revisited the impact of our asset financing on one of our 2022 graduates, Ggayi George Williams. Thanks to the assets he received from the fund, George has doubled his income and, at just 20 years old, is confidently navigating his path toward a brighter future.
A long-awaited dream is finally becoming a reality. We are thrilled to announce that construction of the era92 Hub will begin in November 2024. This state-of-the-art facility, made possible by the acquisition of new land, will serve as both an institute and a co-working space for our graduates, as well as the era92 Creative offices. The new Hub will become a thriving home for over 50 young entrepreneurs each year and will provide education and resources to 500 students annually, advancing our mission to create 100,000 skilled jobs.
Our impactful Q2 Report is now available! Through our training programs, business ventures, and financial support, we have witnessed tremendous progress in the lives of the youth we serve. Here’s a snapshot of our impact:
We are deeply grateful for the support of our investors and donors, whose partnership makes this impact possible. Together, we are changing lives and building a better future for the youth in Africa’s slums.
